How many guests does the Taj banquet hall hold?

Up to 100 seated guests. That suits a walima, a mehndi night, an engagement or a reception where you want everyone in one room rather than spread across a ballroom built for 500. For a smaller gathering — a nikah lunch for close family, say — we may suggest a reserved section of the restaurant instead.

The hall has a decorated stage with a sofa for the couple, and the room is set to your floor plan: long family tables, rounds, or a mix.

How far ahead should I book a wedding hall?

As early as you can — you can reserve up to a year ahead, and popular Saturdays in wedding season go first. Have a date and a rough headcount ready, call (630) 808-1832, and we will check availability while you are on the phone. Every event is quoted to the date, the headcount and the shape of the day rather than from a price list.

What is included when I hire the hall?

  • Tables and chairs, with the room set to your floor plan.
  • In-house sound and projection for speeches, nasheeds, a slideshow or the DJ.
  • The decorated stage with a sofa for the couple.
  • Linens, china and service staff can be added with your catering.

Because the kitchen is on site, the food goes from the kitchen to your guests without a van ride in between — it arrives hot.

Can we bring our own decorator, DJ or photographer?

Yes. Many families bring their own florist, DJ or photographer, and we coordinate access and setup times with them so nobody is waiting at a locked door. If you have not chosen vendors yet, ask us — we can recommend people we work with regularly.

What should we serve at a walima or wedding dinner?

Most families start from one of our dawat packages, priced per person:

  • Classic, $18.99 — one curry, one rice or biryani, one vegetable, naan and a dessert.
  • Deluxe, $22.99 — two curries, one rice or biryani, one vegetable, naan and a dessert.
  • Royal, $27.99 — our most popular: two appetizers, two curries, two biryanis, one vegetable, naan and a dessert.
  • Shahi Dawat, $32.99 — three appetizers, three curries, two biryanis, two vegetables, naan and two desserts.

Mutton curry or mutton biryani is $2 more per person, and any extra item $3 per person. For a mehndi, the BBQ Feast ($28.99 per person, 25-guest minimum) is a favourite: two of chicken tandoori, tikka boti, malai boti, hariyali boti or beef seekh kabab, with chicken biryani, daal, naan, chutneys and a dessert. Desserts such as shahi tukda, gulab jamun, Taj shahi kheer or, from Deluxe up, gajar halwa and rabdi close the night the traditional way.

As a guide, 100 guests on the Royal package comes to $2,799 for the food, before tax and any service you add. Everything is cooked with certified Hand Zabiha Halal meat.

What is a good wedding planning checklist?

  • 9–12 months out: fix the date and guest count, and book the hall.
  • 6 months out: book your photographer, decorator and DJ; tell us who they are.
  • 3 months out: choose your dawat package and dishes; decide on linens, china and service staff.
  • 1 month out: confirm the floor plan, stage timing, speeches and any slideshow for the projector.
  • 1 week out: give us the final headcount and vendor arrival times.

We are about ten minutes off I-55, with parking at the door — easy for guests driving in from Naperville, Plainfield or further out.
