Quick answer Taj Restaurant and Banquet at 247 S Bolingbrook Dr, Bolingbrook, IL cooks Hyderabadi-style dum biryani every day — chicken, mutton and 65 biryani, in single and family sizes, with certified Hand Zabiha Halal meat. Dine in, order online for pickup, or order biryani by the tray for a party.
What makes a biryani "Hyderabadi"?
Hyderabadi biryani is cooked dum style: the meat and the long-grain basmati are layered in one pot, sealed, and finished together over low heat so the rice takes on the steam, the spice and the meat juices. You can tell by the grains — long, separate, and streaked with saffron and caramelised onion rather than tossed in a sauce.
That is how ours is made. Our chicken biryani is fragrant basmati layered with spiced chicken, saffron and caramelised onion; the mutton biryani is bone-in mutton with whole spices, cooked dum style.
Which biryani should I order?
- Chicken Biryani — the one most people start with: saffron, fried onion and tender chicken.
- Mutton Biryani — bone-in mutton, richer and deeper; the traditional choice for a dawat.
- 65 Biryani — Chicken 65 folded through the rice, with curry leaf and chilli. The spiciest of the three.
Pair it the Hyderabadi way: mirchi ka salan or khatti dal on the side, and finish with Irani chai. See every dish and today's prices on the menu.
How much biryani do I need for a family or a party?
Our family-size biryanis — chicken, mutton or 65 — serve four to six people. For bigger groups, order biryani by the tray: a half tray serves 8–10 and a full tray serves 18–20. Trays can be ordered and paid for online on the catering page, with half paid now and half at pickup.
Is the biryani at Taj halal?
Yes. Every piece of meat at Taj is certified Hand Zabiha Halal and monitored by Halal Monitoring Services (HMS), so you never have to ask.
